How to Be Perfect
“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly
Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:48
“But just as he who called you is holy,
so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because
I am holy.’” 1 Peter 4:15-16 (NIV)
“I am the Lord your God; consecrate
yourselves and be holy, because I am holy… I am the Lord who brought
you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am
holy.” Leviticus 11:44-45 (NIV)
“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Speak to
the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because
I, the Lord your God, am holy.’” Leviticus 19:1-2 (NIV)
“My dear children, I write this to
you so that you will not sin…” 1 John 2:1 (NIV)
1 John 2:4-6 (NIV)
1 John 1:5-10 (NIV)
- Excellence should only be
measured in terms of the heavenly Father.
- Excellence is measured by
the heavenly Father’s holiness.
- We help complete God’s love
in us when we obey His word.
- Perfection is only made complete
in our yielding all of our weaknesses to God.
“My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness. That is why, for Christ’s
sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions,
in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV)
- The more you pattern your
life after Jesus, the more you will experience persecution and misunderstanding
from the world, the flesh and the devil.
